Mary + Sam held their late June 2018 wedding at The Waters Oshkosh. I absolutely love this venue; it’s one of my favorite venues and I love that I’ve been shooting at The Waters more of late. The Waters was build by architect William Waters in 1903. It originally served as the the Oshkosh Yacht Club. It was restored in 2008, and it now used as a special event venue. It is situated right on the shores of Lake Winnebago. It has the most stunning views, and the building itself is a work of art. Mary + Sam chose a Dusty Blue Organic Wedding at The Waters Oshkosh for their theme. I adore dusty blue. It’s the perfect blend of gray and blue, and it’s a color that looks amazing on just about everyone! I also loved the florals they chose; wild and organic is my absolute favorite style for bouquets.
It was incredibly hot the day of Mary + Sam’s wedding. It was the last weekend of June 2018 when the heat index was around 110 degrees. That is hot! With the guys in heavy suits and the girls in long gowns, we only spent around 15 minutes on wedding party formals, as well as bride + groom formals. When weather conditions don’t cooperate, we need to make sure we get everything done as fast as absolutely possible. We needed to make sure the bride + groom and their wedding party weren’t out in that insane heat for long. Heat stroke and heat exhaustion are very real, very serious issues on days like this; especially when people are in heavy formal wear. These are issues we don’t want to think about facing on a wedding day, but issues we as wedding photographers need to know how to handle. We got the formals done as fast as possible to get the wedding party out of the heat. Even with the time crunch, we walked away with amazing photographs, and no one passed out! Totally a win.
We had a wonderful time celebrating with Mary + Sam, and we wish them all the best for their future together!
