Amy & Erick invited us to come to Chicago for their engagement session. I’m always up for traveling to new locations for engagement sessions. It gives me the opportunity to shoot in places that are new or places I’ve only used once or twice. We decided on North Avenue beach in Downtown Chicago for their engagement session. From North Avenue beach, you can see the iconic skyline, and there is also a park and beach right in the midst of the bustling city. It was a cold 56 degrees the day of their session. The wind on the beach made it seem even more cold than it was. But Amy + Erick toughed it out, even though they were cold! North Avenue beach is a busy place, so it gave me the opportunity to use my blocking skills to block out all the people and vehicles in the background. I always tell people that I don’t need huge, stunning locations to create beautiful photos. If I can find just a small area with great light, we can shoot an entire session in one spot. Almost all of these images were shot in one location in the park. There was a parking lot and lots of people coming through the background, but you’d never know! That is what I love about photography; the ability to get creative! It was a stunning North Avenue Beach Chicago Engagement Session! I loved getting to know Amy + Erick more, and to hear more about their wedding plans. Their wedding is coming up in April 2019 in Chicago, and we can’t wait!
