Colton + Tori’s wedding was our first wedding of the 2018 season. Colton + Tori drove to Wausau from the Madison area for their engagement session this past March. We shot their engagement session on Rib Mountain just after a fresh snowfall. You can view the images from their engagement session here. Colton + Tori were married in Delafield, WI at St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy. The academy was founded in 1884 in Delafield. It is a boarding school for grades 7-12. The property is full of beautiful structures, including the Noble Victory Memorial Chapel that Colton + Tori held their ceremony in. They used the Welles Dining Hall of the Academy property for their lovely reception. It was a beautiful St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy wedding!
The Noble Victory Memorial Chapel is a stunning gothic Cathedral-style chapel of the property of the academy. Like all of the buildings on the property, it is a stunning stonework structure. It has amazing, tall stained glass windows running down the length of the chapel, and a large round ornate stained glass window at each end of the building. When we walked in, we felt like we were walking in to a church in the gothic period in France. It is a very visually stunning building, and it was so great to be able to shoot there. The wedding we shot the weekend before Colton + Tori’s wedding was -18 below with windchills nearing -30, so the 15 degrees above zero temps we had were a welcome relief. It still wasn’t warm by any means, but it was nice to be able to go outside for more than one minute at a time for photos! Especially because the grounds at the academy are so beautiful.
Colton + Tori chose beautiful winter florals and elegant, minimalist decor for their wedding styling. Tori’s bridesmaids wore long marsala gowns with faux fur shawls to match their white and marsala bouquets. Colton and his groomsmen wore blue suits with custom hand-made ties. I loved the decor they chose for their reception. The table runners made of greens mixed with vintage brass candlesticks in one of my all time favorites for weddings. The cross back chairs added a touch of rustic elegance to match the farm sweetheart table. It was a beautiful wedding that we loved being a part of!
